    Question Transducer mounting HB 598

I am looking into the HB 598ci HD SI unit, Living in south Louisiana "Map cards" are not much help so the single SD card slot will be good enough to save tracks and way points which is great for me, One question I do have is on the Transducer, My Lowrance that came with my Bass Tracker Proteam 175 TXW is mounted on the left side Transom and I see HB says mount on right side Transom for props that rotate clockwise.
I was kind of hoping the Transducer bracket would be very similar to the unit I have so I could just swap them out (without drilling holes) or not adding holes to the other side. Does it really make a noticeable difference on what side the motor I mount it? and if so how much of a difference?

    Any info would be great.

I have an 04 PT 175, and the OEM ducer was mounted on the right side (driver side) of the boat. Still there, different ducer tho. I used a "sternsaver" to mount my LSS1 ducer on the step of my boat, its protected for the most part and works good there. No holes drilled in hull as the sternsaver glues onto the boat, and then you mount the ducer to the sternsaver. The sternsaver is similar to the plastic cutting boards available at wally world, etc., but about 3/4" thick. Google it and you'll find it.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Mounting it where the existing ducer is may cause the lower unit of the big motor to block one side of the beam/view, but you just have to raise the big motor up enough and good to go. My LSS 1 ducer is mounted under the step as far back as possible and it still sticks out past the end of the hull for a couple inches. LOL

    DCottrell,
You usually don’t have to worry about the rotation direction of the propeller unless you are mounting the transducer behind it or unless you are backing the boat. I doubt that your Proteam 175 TXW has an inboard motor and propeller so you can mount it to either side of the boat. Most mount to the right side as it is easier to do (you don’t have to route wires around the motor) and so the transducer cable will be long enough to reach to the unit mounting location.

My Current Transducer position, Thanks to all for the helpful info. I will post updated photo's and screenshots once I have enough to get the unit and install.
