dunno....my 898 reads depth at speed and using the bracket that came with it. Maybe your transducer and bracket need to be put on at a different location or position on your transom.

and it wont work, I am gonna have to move it to the transomI had purchase a bracket that extends out from the transom for the high speed ducer but I havent tried it. I want to have depth reading at plane if possible and I dont want to have my SI ducer down that low. I can not remember the site I got the bracket from. My question is should I just use the bracket that came with the ducer or attempt to make the extended bracket work. Apparently the hull on the F&F is to thick and my ducer reads 1.6 ft all the time. I really hate to drill holes in my transom. I had purchase the transducer mounting board but when I attach it and pull the top of the board tight with the mounting screws, the bottom of the board is not flush, it sticks out about a 1/2 inch or so and I dont want to put holes in the bottom of the transom if I can get away from it. any suggestions ?
thanks

If it is mounted where there is a rib or a strake in front of it it will not read at speed because of loseing contact with the water due to turbulence etc. It needs to be mounted where the boat bottom is smooth in front of it. I have mine down about 3/8 of an inch below the bottom of the boat. Your not going to knock it off unless you hit a stump with it.

Weld on a metal bracket like mine and you are golden on the not have to drill any holes in the boat.
Handi, the boat has that on it but I have the SI ducer mounted there and Im afraid to lower it to much further due to the fact of something smackin it off, I was thinkin of mounting the other ducer to the side but lower on the transom so that maybe I would get depth reading at plane
If you have the welded bracket, could you take off the si ducer and put a piece of flat aluminum in it's place that is about 5-6" long? then you could drill holes for both ducers on the same bracket
