Installing a Humminbird 596c HD DI

I am not as good at wiring as I wish I was. I just bought the HB 596c HD DI at Basspro and I have a 2000 Crappie Pro 175 that came with a HB 100sx.How much rewiring will I have to do to get this puppy onboard and working? I can easily pull through the transducer but wiring power etc is where I get nervous. Am I over worried or should I get the scuba gear out before I drown? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would start by trying to use the power cable from the 100SX. If you start having power related issues I would see about getting a new set of wires to run from the new power cable all the way back to the cranking battery (through a 3-amp in-line fuse of course).

Thanks Greg! I was wondering if they were standard. Awesome. I looked at the connections on the HB site in accessories for it and it looked like a sandard for power. Also what are the extra connections for? I think I read 1 is for speed/temp. Is that right?

Thanks Greg For the valuable insight. I was a little jumpy at first but I think I'll install on Saturday and test on Sunday. Week after that I am on KY Lake!

I just got done installing the same unit on my boat. Everything went very well. The instructions are pretty intimidating! You shouldn't have any trouble, The only issue I am having with my unit is I hooked the power cable to one of the trolling motor batteries, I wouldn't recommend that. First trip out to the lake every time I would push the button on my trolling motor it would make a line as wide as the time I was pushing the button. I have since routed my power wires to the cranking battery in the back and haven't had any interference or problems, Hope this helps!
