What is the differences between the terrova ipilot gen.1 and whatever other generations they have made

Gen 1 IP has only 3 memory locations for recorded tracks and the anchor lock function, while the newer gen 2 has 6 memory locations for those functions. The remote probably changed as well since some it wore out quickly in some situations. I have a gen 1 and don't use all of the functions it has, mainly the anchor lock (1 location since I don't sit over BP's) and seldom do I record a track while longlining. I can use the gps on FF to duplicate a track if needed. I do use the cruise function for controlling speed and the gps heading/direction function as well.

If no mistaken the upgade was in he remote, adding the extra tracks it will save and advanced auto pilot feature. Once again, if not mistaken you can oder the new remote and it will work with the Gen 1 and have the new features.
