Default Choices for a console FF

I have a 998 SI mounted at the bow and Cane Pole is really selling me on the transducer that deploys at the bow. So I'm thinking for the console I could maybe just go with a DI unit for moving around general use? Except for moving the boat I'll be doing all my fishing up front.

PM me if you have any questions about the "transducer stick" (as Cane Pole calls it)...

Give us some more information here so that we can guide you to a particular model unit or which to select from.

Do you want to be able to link this unit to your 998 unit and share data?
Do you want a color display and if so how large of a display?
Is there a dollar figure that you would not want to exceed?

    Thanks Greg
That's a good point to link the two so a very strong maybe to that.
    Yes to color.
A large enough display you do t have to squint with your nose to the screen to see something.
Price wise between $500-1000. The rebates out now have me looking at something a little more expensive than I originally planned.
I bought the boat last summer and made do with the PiranhaMax 220 that came with it to get my feet wet with my first boat. Now I've rebuilt it over the winter more to my liking with the 998 Si on the bow to go along with a iLink Terrova. From what I've picked up on the forums the SI is strong in some situations and weak in others. Hence my thought of a DI on the console for general depth knowledge at speeds as well as find potential spots before dropping the heavy equipment up front. Also going with the bow mounted transducer I'll need something to keep me out of trouble with the basic depth readings.

    Thx

Look at the 858c HD DI Combo unit tsaints1115. I don’t know about the rebates but I think that the 958c HD DI Combo will be out of your price range although it will have the same sized display as your 99c Si unit.

That one is at the top of the list.

    Thanks to you and Rickie.

Would a Ethernet cable be the only accessory I need for the two units to communicate? Or since the iLink TM is part of the system would I need an Ethernet switch?

With the i-Pilot Link you will have to get the Ethernet Switch (AS-ETH-5PS) and two of the AS-EC-XXE cables (replace the “XX” with the cable length that you will need).
