tried to load new update to my 1197 and it locked up

i tried tio install the new update on my 1197 and it locked up as soo as it started
now when i cut it on it starts making a clicking noise humminbird greg or any one else do you know what is going on here.

Hope its still under warranty. Same thing happened to mine,
Its on its way to humminbird lane.
If I by a new one I'll get an extended warranty for the same reason.

You might get lucky and try this before you send it to HB...

*Full format your SD card...(nothing else on card)
*Download version 6.310 from here... Login
(6.310 is a stable version for the 1197)
*Remove any mapping cards from the unit...
*Insert SD card in either slot ...
*Power on unit...

If the unit still does anything other than ask if you want to update...the unit will probably have to be sent to HB ...

Which version of new software were you trying to load into your 1197 when it locked up...??

the latest version 6.600 that just came out 1/29/13 This puts me in a bind I am fishing tiurney on weiss this weekends leaving tomorrow. this is all i need to have to deal with fishing blind Thanks ifor the advice i will give it a try
