I was looking for the detail on the bottom i.e. brush holding fish, etc. and GPS is not really needed as I have a handheld.

But looking on PB sale cat. they have an HB with down imaging plus sonar $400...do they compare?

Yes I know the HB screen is smaller on the 596c HD DI.

But for a novice who fishes mostly less than 40 ft water on small lakes and pits...which one?
