Default hb 898c si and hb 858c hd di

question is, do i have to mount both gps pucks or can i buy a cable and run both units off of one,or would it be better to have one at the back for 898 and one at the front for 858? thanks

Technically you should mount the puck closest to the Transducer. If you mostly troll I would mount one puck inbetween the two. For fishin brushpiles you should mount above TD. The distance from the TD to the puck is the amount you will be off plus they are pretty much within 3ft. to start with. Hope I explained it right.

Agree with above, keep your gps antennas as close to transducers as possible to minimize error. Your 898's at back is great, put your 858 close to tm.

Just mounted a HB1198 and a HB1158. I mounted the pucks within 1' horizonally of each units xducers. I bought the cable to hook them together with one puck, but after re-calling some of my experiences in the past by only using one xducer.. it was an easy decision to use both located right at the units xducer. Accucually you can draw a sketch on paper showing marking a spot and where the ducers and the puck is. Then come at it from a different angle and you will see how far off you can be unless those xducers and pucks are together. everyone has different styles of fishing but I want to know where my spots are and not have to ride around and hunt them. My 2 cents. Good luck.
