I's sorry but my brain says buy something. My heart says don't buy until you get the facks.
Between Lowrance and Humming Bird, then a dozen others. What do these mean?
Does SS mean structure scan or side scan or single sounder?
I've been to the websites and haven't found a list of what the abbreviations mean. When I get it figured out, wrong.

What I'm trying to figure out now is what to buy. Just purchassed the LSS to go with my HDS5 but I now have the V2 and would like to link it. Problem is as I understand it. Has to be done with a HB (how's that)?

I trust you people to give the the best options.

Lowrance:
SS -> Structure Scan (Side Imaging)
DSI -> DownScan Imaging
HDS -> HighDef System

Humminbird:
SI -> Side Imaging
DI -> Down Imaging
HD designation -> LED backlighting (and maybe some other updates) (1100 series come with LED Backlight)
C -> combo
CI -> Combo w/internal GPS
NVB -> Navionics bundled

You just got the V2? Do you mean Powerdrive V2 or HDS Gen2?
I-Pilot and I-Pilot Link are only compatible with HB units. CanePole might be work with something with Lowrance. You might want to ask him.

Now I gust purchased a LSS2 and I don't understand where to go next.
I do have a couple of other threads so this may be coming mananas.
The people down the street fom me that sells this stuff? Sport's Fisherman's on Ottawa St. Muskegon Mi. just seems to want to talk to people that know what there talking about.
I just have one more year fellas.
Want to get it rite for a special person and leave something for the wife.

Let me rephrase my I-Pilot thing.. I-Pilot v1 will work by itself while the I-Pilot link (v2) will connect to ethernet capable HB devices and will work best with lakemaster cards in them.

The LSS-2 has down scan and side scan, you will like.

What I mean by that is. Should I move the HDS5 up front. Purchase a New HDS7 to go with the LSS2? Or leave the 5 where it's at at the helm and purchase a new HB to go up front and link the PowerDrive v2? Sorry I keep saying that, US2

If I go with a HB up front. Will I ever be able to linkn the two graphs together if I stay with a Lowrance at the helm?

No on the connecting the 2 different units. Sounds like you need to sell the Lowrance stuff, get 2 bird units say 898,998 for console and 700 series unit for front. Then link together. Then you could use the I-Pilot link.
