Default HB Heading Sensor Puck Issues

OK. I've been reporting this for a few weeks, but now I will confirm that it is a hardware issue.

A buddy of mine got the new HS puck and reported these same discrepancies between his unit connected to the HS puck versus his ipilot remote and his lowrance unit at the bow.
I've see discrepancies between the puck versus my ipilot remote and my 898 console unit. The ipilot and console unit will be exactly the same speed but the HB 898 connected to the HS puck will be off on occasion.

The console unit is updated to the latest revision similar to the bow unit.

We were both slow trolling at around 0.5 mph with the HB unit connected to the HS puck showing speeds around 0.2-0.3. This is only occasionally, but noticeable.

I'll be making a call on Monday.

Yep same issues here. My 788 with all updates and new heading sensor puck is not accurate. My ipilot remote and lowrance was showing .06 my 788 .02.

    Stymie...

I done some initial testing today of the AS GPS HS...(I will report in a separate thread)...

Although I don't have an iPilot ....I did see a noticeable difference in boat speed vs. what the GPS speed was reading...

I have slow trolled enough at 0.4mph to know what 0.4mph feels like and my boat was "Scooting" at 0.4mph with the AS GPS HS antenna...

I would have to slow my GPS reading down to about 0.1mph to get my boat to "feel" like I was really doing 0.4mph...

    More to come...

Maybe use the paddlewheel speed sensor? :-)
I know, with the puck costing that much, it should be accurate. I still think those things should be less than $100.

the paddlewheel is not accurate at all. gps should be accurate it has to be a software bug because my 998 at dash is right on the money with my ipilot. they will figure it out I hope.

I ran the 6.600 software version on 3 different HB antennas...AS GR50, AS GRHA, AS GPS HS....

The speed discrepancy only occurred on the AS GPS HS antenna...

The GPS speed using the AS GR50 and the AS GRHA on the 6.600 software version seemed normal...

This leads me to think the issue is a hardware issue ...or maybe a combination hardware/software issue...using the AS GPS HS...

We will see what comes up in the next few days...
