So, got a new Elite 7 HDI today. It is my first higher end fishfinder, so as I was looking at the installation directions, I notice the power cord is a double cord. One side is marked power and is the standard red/black/yellow. Other side is marked NMEA0183, and has 5 wires (yellow/orange/blue/green/ground). This wire is something I was not expecting, and I am not sure what I am supposed to do with it. I think it is for networking, but I do not plan to network this unit at this time. (maybe in hte future) Can I simply wrap this wire and tape the ends? Does this need to be attatched to something? Do I need a professional?

Congrats on the unit, you are gonna love it.

Thanks Rees. Looking forward to getting it hooked up tomorrow. Gotta get the boat of the trailer and replace some bunk boards and the inside of my wheel wells. Might stick the boat in Legion Lake tomorrow afternoon and let the wife play with the unit while I work on the trailler....
