Default HB owner's....Don't get antsy and update to 6.600 yet...

I posted yesterday that HB was supposed to be sending out an update to fix the issues people were experiencing with the 6.570 version....

The 6.600 is out..... but reports are not favorable as of yet...

I know it's very exciting to think "I gotta have the latest greatest" and update as fast as these updates come out....but seriously....

Most updates do not have enough benefit that it can't wait for a few days ....

Patience...watch the forums for a few days and see if others are having issues...

I promise you there will always be some others willing to stick their neck out ...

Or maybe the correct statement would be...

"There's always some that are willing to sacrifice their unit..."

From Wayne P. at bbc yesterday...:

"I give it a failing grade as the processing is still screwed up.

    This is what I see.
I have one unit with 6.490 and one unit with 6.600 running beside each other.
With Simulator at the screen scroll speed setting of 5 on both, the swimming pool is the same size on the displays- I paused the screens and measured the pool length. BUT with the 6.600 at the scroll speed of 10 it is just like it was with the 6.570- an Olympic size instead of a private pool size.
To make it even more laughable, at a screen scroll speed of 1, the pool is the size of a kid's pool.

With the 6.490, the pool doesn't change sizes no matter what the scroll speed is and it shouldn't. The screen scroll speed on a recording playback should only affect how fast subjects pass across the display.

Additionally during playback the two sides of SI don't move together. they sort of alternate advancing on the display very obviously."

I'll download to my bow unit and see what I see this weekend. Maybe I won't brick it.

Maybe HB Greg will clear this up? I doubt there'd be 2 updates in a row that are not correct.

If we'll notice...Greg has already visited the forum and left this morning...

He will not (cannot?) make a statement until he has more info...

We should be patient and watch the forums...

I, for one, will let the pros be the guinea pigs....(a number of them don't have $$$$ invested in their units....they have nothing to lose...)

I installed it at lunch, it did not brick my 998. It is a little challenging to get a screen shot of the same place at different chart speeds with 6.49 and 6.6 sw. It seems the 998 and 898 does not contain the pool in the sim like other models have. The lat and long are no help because they randomly seem to only change lat or long and the more you watch the sim the stuff is not at the same coords in either sw version. I did see the 2 sides not moving together but only on chart speed 1 in 6.6 I could not see this issue at higher speeds. After work I will try again to get snaps shots of same location at different chart speeds in both sw versions.

When I used 6.57 on the water I had no issues with the extra chart speed, I just turned it down 1 or 2 below boat speed to get best image. I perceived the display to be more real time than 6.4 versions. Pass a tree, a tree starts to appear quicker on the display with 6.57, 6.49 pass a tree wait, wait, wait then tree appears. SO to be clear I did not find the si speed to be an issue.

6.6 did seems to clear up sonar issue when turned off then won't turn back on without shut down. 6.6 did seems to fix slow gps connected status.

Edit, I'm close enough to Eufaula that I could run over there and have them fix it and be back fishing the same day.

try holding your simulation button down for a few secs .....it stopped mine from doing the same thing.

360 may really be the death of SI/DI.

They'll get it worked out soon.

Terry...if this doesn't work you may have to revert back to a previous version....

Do you have copies of the old version saved on your pc...??
