I have hooked up my new 998 unit last Saturday and have had a problem with the left side showing a line . I have talked to Humminbird several times and still no fix. I sent them some pictures also. They said they sent them to there engineering dept. Can someone please help. I will try to attach some pic's if I can figure out. My cell number is 804-337-7467, please call me so we can talk. I'm not very good on the computer. Thank you.

I can not send pictures through photobucket like I know how to do. Can you please send me your email address so I can email some pic's?.

It looks like the left side of the SI beam is being partially blocked by something to the left of the Xducer...

Either a drain screen, another Xducer, a jack plate, ladder...etc

Post pics of the back of the boat (from the rear and from both sides)...

    Vic,
Left you a message on your cell phone.

My answer on your other post:
    Vic,
The simulator data that the electronics guy showed you was taken from a boat that did have some Left Si sonar blockage. So it will look that way on all Si units that it is played back on (it is effect, a Sonar Recording that you are viewing while in the Simulator mode).

Don’t wait on the Engineers to come back from the their holiday vacations. Go ahead and temporarily install your HDSi transducer on something (a broom handle) and hold it completely under the boat’s hull and motor (with the boat drifting) as this will quickly show whether the problem is in the transducer or in the mounting of the transducer. Turning the transducer around backwards will also help identify the root cause of the problem.
    - If the repeating lines go away from the left side than it is a physical blockage of the Left Si sonar and we will have to work on this.
    - If they do not go away than the problem is either in your transducer or the unit itself. At that point you should test another Humminbird Si unit (any model as Rickie said) on your boat or your unit on another boat. This will let you know whether the problem is the transducer or your 998c Si unit.

If the problem is in the transducer; call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks, tell them what is going on and what you have done to troubleshoot the problem and ask them to ship you out a new HDSi transducer (XHS-9-HDSi-180-T).

BTW: you did register your unit with the Humminbird Select program, didn’t you?

Thanks Greg, they are sending me a new transducer on Friday. Hope it takes care of the problem. Thanks for all your help and I'll keep you posted.

Anchor Man- Is your HDSi transducer mounted to the side of a jackplate ?

I've seen this same image from some users that have a jackplate mount and are getting a signal return that bounces inside the jackplate. The "echo" produces the same lines just off center.

Just saw you other post Roy had started. I see you don't have a jackplate. I would follow Greg's Walters recommendations and let us know what you find.
