Try zoom in . Try adjusting depth of water for max vertical water screen coverage .
Fish kinda gotta hit center of cone to arch.
Try turning surface clarity off and noise rejection off for a swag.

I have a hds 7 gen 2. I know it is best to use fish arches. I have set sensitivity to on, off, turned sensitivity up and down and still have not seen any fish arches. I have not seen a thing on the screen, not even a dot or dash. Am I doing something wrong. Could my transducer be bad? I have a transducer on the front and back with a switch to change transducers. This is the right transducer, the same as the one used on my x510c. Since I have been facing this problem I have had to use the fish icons exclusively.I feel this has got to be some kind of setting since I get absolutely nothing on the screen. Anyone have any ideas? I am tired of looking at cartoon fish.

And also understand that you &/or the fish have to be moving along, to get good arch images.
Our very own Jerry Blake (member & Guide on some Arkansas lakes) wrote this : SONAR Check it out !!
And if that's not enough .... check through these : fish arches - Google Search

Thanks cane pole and crappie pappy. You can always count on crappie .com members to offer suggestion. Could the transducer be bad? The other transducer on the back gets nothing either. The sonar seems to work fine except for this problem. Thanks again for your suggestions.
If you're getting bottom readings then the ducer should be good. Try runnuing over some submerged cover and see if it shows that.
Fish are just objects in the water, no reason not to show them if everything else shows up.
