    Default Terrova Purchase

Can you purchase the terrova trolling motor without the foot control?

    Thanks,

If you don't get the Ipilot at the time of purchase you would have no way to control the TM. The Terrova does have a "plug in" connection so you can remove the foot pedal in less than 30 seconds, but you would still need an IP to control the TM via the IP remote.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I think you have to drop back to the Powerdrive to do that. One thing to consider is having a backup to the remote. I have the Terrrova because I thought I would need the foot pedal in some instances, but that has not been the case as the hand control works fine for any type of fishing, at least for me.

However, I have been out twice with different guys that had the powerdrive and they had a problem with the remote and were virtually dead in the water. I realized then that it is good to have the pedal as a backup in case something goes wrong with the handheld so I am glad I got it evern though I have not used it so far.

There was also some discussion about the deploy and stow mechanism on the Terrova being much easier to use than the Powerdrive, but I have not seen the PD owners have a problem with theirs so I am not sure what the issue was. The stow and deploy on the Terrova is super easy. As a matter of fact you better be ready for the motor to go in the water when you hit the release bar, because it pretty much deploys itself.

What SeaRay said.. I was out on the water and had the foot control along and I did something to cause the remote to not work at all and had to use the foot control. I just laid it on my lap and punched away with my fingers then moved back in the shade for a while and operated it from there also on my lap. When I got home I partiallt deployed the Terrova and the remote worked so it was pilot error. I was glad to have the foot control along because the day wasn't ruined . Ferdi aka Fred

    What SeaRay and Ferdi said.

If you and a buddy each have i-P, fish from one or the other of your boats, and "learn" both remotes to the motor of the day, when you switch to the other boat, both of your remotes will not work. Solution: "learn" the remotes to the motor you're using that day. Each time you use the "learn" feature, it clears the ID your remote saved from the last motor it "learned" and loads the ID of the current motor.

If your terrova has AP/CO you can use that remote with no foot pedal.
