    Default Lowrance

    We went to Bass Pro yesterday to look around. I have been contemplating for over a year now about buying an HDS 8. Well I can honestly say now I have no intentions of buying one. Unless it is a used one real cheap. Instead I am holding out for the new touch screen 9. They had a touch screen 7 there on display. WOW!!!!
    I can not believe how easy that thing was to navigate thru the screens. You can setup, customize screens, change setting, add cameras any thing in just a couple touches of the screen. Unbelievably easy and fast. Maybe it was because I am used to iPads and smart phones but the touch screen just seems so natural and easy. It has moved to the top of my want list. I am guessing than in the next few months you will see a lot of the 8, 10, 12,Gen 2 on the classifieds for sale as people up grade to the new touch screen. If you get the chance to go play with one of the touch screens I suggest you give it a try. I was really impressed with it ease to use. Now I just got to save a few more dollars.

    Did Lowrance "sync" the DI and 2d imaging? This kinda sucks on my Gen1.

    Not sure if it's called "sync" but you can overlay the DI over the 2D. And it only takes about 3 quick taps of the finger to do it. If you get a chance go to you tube and look at some of the videos about them. I honestly think they are easier to operate than what the videos show. I like the fact there is no tool bars in the way unless you want them there. Then one swipe with the finger and there gone.

    Yep. I use overlay on my gen1. What I mean by sync is when you split screen 2d and di, they scroll at different speeds. If you remove the 2d from normal scroll, you cannot overlay di. In other words, the 2d and di are not in sync on the display as they scroll across the screen.

    I was told it was because 2d and di came from 2 different transducers was the reason of non sync. However, since a processor is running the show, I know the two displays can be synchronized. I was just curious since I griped to Lowrance about this situation. Trust me.

    CP;

    Doesn't the "ping speed" also adjust the scroll speed on the 2d, try increasing/decreasing that.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

    I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
