    Default Humminbird problem

Have HB 587 DI. When idling along the screen goes crazy when using DI or regular sonar!! the picture read out will go from 30' to 480' (reading in lower right corner) so can not see any structure. Also the water depth will very all over the place from accurate reading of 10' to anywhere upto 160'. Also while setting on trailer the speed will conutious switching anywhere from .0 to .4 miles per hour. Help please.

First thing you need to do is shut off any other sonar unit that you have on your boat. If this clears up the inaccurate depth readings than try turning the other sonar unit back on but turn on and up the Noise Filter menu in the 587ci HD DI unit.

Next thing is to make sure that you are running the latest software version in your 587ci HD DI unit. The latest version of software for that unit is 6.090, check the Self Test/System Status View for this on your unit.

Make sure the Xducer is parallel with the water surface at the normal operating angle the boat sits in the water...
