    Default Humminbird 587/597 question

How to get all the nearby waypoints to show on GPS screen? Would like to look at the screen and pick any waypoint and click on GoTo, and find the brush pile. I used the big engine and looked bach and forth for some sign of brush pile. Yesterday I tried locating Corp of Eng. brush piles with this unit and not happy with system. Have the on line manual for these units but need more help. What setting for arriving alarm? Any other would help as have hard time with new toys.

It sounds like you are asking 2 different questions...

If you are wanting to show all saved waypoints that are inclusive at the present zoom range... Your unit's "Waypoint Decluttering" setting may be on..Which may be hiding some of the saved waypoints from showing...

Hit "Menu" twice to get into the main menu...
Tab over to the "Navigation" tab..
    Cursor down to "Waypoint Decluttering"...
Cursor right (or left) to "Off"...
This should show all saved waypoints at the present zoom range...
If you want to see more saved waypoints...
Hit "-" on the unit face to zoom the chart out...

If your question is to find new brushpiles to mark...then just move the boat around and mark them as you find them...

I wouldn't put too much stock in COE mapped brushpiles.... Those brushpiles may or may not actually be where the map says they are...

The only way I can see waypoints is to pick one to TOGO or use the route setting which shows only the route waypoint.
What setting to use on arriving alarm? 25', 50' or 100'.

The "Waypoint Decluttering" setting does not show under the "Nav" tab in the main menu system unless the unit is set to "Advanced" User Mode under the Setup tab in the Main Menu system...

Check to make sure the User Mode is set to "Advanced" under the Setup tab...
Then go under the "Nav" tab and set "Waypoint Decluttering" to off...

The "Arrival" alarm setting can be set at a distance that gives you enough warning that "You are about to reach your GOTO chosen waypoint"...

If you are trolling toward a GOTO chosen waypoint.. You may not need very much warning...
If you are motoring toward a GOTO chosen waypoint....You may need more warning...

The only time I use the GOTO function is "IF" the waypoint I want to GOTO is phsically too far away to show on the chart at the present zoom level...

I generally just manipulate the chart's boat icon toward the "blue dot"...
