Don, Can you leave the transducer wire where it is, disconnect the present power wires and and run the new ones through another conduit not in the channel?

(1) I presently have a G3 Eagle 175 PF. The trolling motor wires are #8 and factory wired. I have always used #6 regardless of the TM type. After tearing half the boat apart I have found it impossibe to replace the #8 wires. How much difference will it make in battery run down if I continue using the #8 wiring vs #6. It is about a 20' run. I have a new I-Pilot 12v 55lb TM.
(2) The TM wires are inside a spiral wrap and running in the same channel as my DF transducer cable going to the transom. This is the ONLY way to get a transducer on the transom..Trust me, the only way. I can see the dreaded interference coming.
(3) It is just about as hard getting the bow DF power cable to the cranking battery at the back. I have a bow light and a T & T switch up front. The bow unit is 2D only. Can I bridge on to either without causing problems.
Why don't the boat manufacturers place a simple extra conduit for accessories? It could be easily done during the building process.

Don't outsmart your common sense!

Don, while running your TM wide open your voltage drop will be 9.04%. Not the greatest, but acceptable. At lower speeds that will come way down but since the maximizer comes into play I have no way of computing voltage drop. As for power for the front DF keep in mind that if you use the bow light you will have to turn it on at the switch to use it. But either the bow light or the T&T could be used as amp draw is very low for the DF. As for interference, all you can do is try it. I would put a ferrite coil on the DF power lead while you have it apart. Keep in mind you usually only hear about the people that do have interference and not the thousands that don't.

Don, you fish a lot like I do and do not have to run motor very high. I have a max 70 and my wire is 8 also and I have not had no problem of even battery getting the least bit low in one days time. You have been with me and thats usually how I fish most of the time. IMO you would have to troll cranksbaits or something like that at a fairly good pace where the maximizer then would not be efficient ,but you are like me in not carring much for that type of fishing. I once in a while turn motor up fast for a short distance to get to another spot that is near, like one dock to another but if any distance I will crank big motor and even leave TM down if not far. When you get a chance post a picture of boat for us to see

I agree with Bill and genec.
I have #8 that came installed on/in my Predator. V2 70 no problems with 20 ft wiring. Heck, I never stay out long enough to run a battery down anyway.
If you have noise and can't solve it, come see me. Bring beer in case billbob shows up. That will keep him occupied so we can work. If we can't fix it, well I know a place that needs a good brush pile or hull pile.

Don wanted me to share this picture of his new boat on it's maiden voyage today. He sure a hit when he took some local bank fishermen out with him!

Thanks for the replies. I had plenty of help today. WVSPEC & one of my WWII friends(Warren) stopped by to give me a hand. It was good that a young'un like Spec could meet one of our heroes. They sure are leaving us at a rapid pace. God Bless them
I'm leaving the #8 TM wire in place and found a way to run the front deck DF power to the rear cranking battery.
Bill, I am following your advice about twisting the power wires. Thanks for the tip.
