Default iPads interacting with fish finders?

I saw a fishing show in passing a while back. Only caught a few moments of it so I can't say as to whom the host was. What I remember was he had an iPad hanging around is neck and talked of incorporating the iPad with his fish finder. Is there models out there that interact or was the host merely referring to using the GPS on his iPad to reference points on his fish finder?

Sorry I can't provide any more specific info.

    Thx

I imagine that he was using the I-Pad for the Navionics maps. Much larger screen than the DF. Just a wild guess. The Navionics app is really cool.

Simirad can display wireless to ipad. There is also a start up company that I saw had a "black box" with transducer that displayed on ipad but I do not think they are available.

iPads have screens a little over 9" in size.
