where would screws be located?

Behind the prop. Make sure they are good and snug. Don't over tighten. Glad you got it straight.

Will check thanks for the info.
Interesting! The same thing happened to me--on two motors.
There had never been a problem with the old motor, but I bought a replacement at the end of 2011 when M-K was clearing out the motors with original iPilots. Two weeks ago, the old motor started making a squealing "take me to the repair shop" noise & upon inspection revealed the skeg was out of line by 20 degrees or more. Since the replacement motor was ready to go, I pulled the old one but couldn't get it to the repair shop until next week.
At the time, I had no idea how this happened. Yesterday, the same thing happened to the new motor!
This time I know what caused the problem--me! At a favorite launch ramp there's a dock & when I do a solo launch, the boat bangs into the dock (prop first) if I don't push it off. Thinking the skeg should be a safe place to put my foot to stop the motor from crashing into the dock, I inadvertently rotated the skeg. Now I know what NOT to do!
glad i could be of help
