    Default Fish id settings

I have both a 798 and 597 and I am curious to what everyone has there fish Id sensitivity set at.... My screens are always stacked with fish but I have a feeling I am getting baitfish mistaken at game fish.....

bowhunter, i had the same thing going on when i first got my 998. by using the down and side imaging i was able to figure out the large schools of gizzard shad that were lighting up the screen. wasn't use to even using the fish symbols, but the screen doesn't change wheather you use them or not on the 98 series. i thought the fish were feeding on these big schools of bait, till i realized they were bigger than the crappie. lol. i have used an old unit side by side and figured out alot on my unit. its not lying to you its just like you said, great big old shad. if one or six break out of the pack, its going to mark them as a fish. thats my take anyway. i set mine midway most of the time and if i'm crusing and looking i bump it up a click or two.

Best thing to do is shut off fishID on any unit. Then learn the settings and fine tune. Less false positives.
