    Default Splicing transducer wire

Here is a link showing how to splice a shielded twisted pair that hopefully you won't ever have to use

Good golly! My cable just got cut and I tried to solder it this weekend with little luck - the break is 4-5" from transducer.

Will have to check this out.

    Thank you!!

That's OK but I like to take it a step further. Put the longest piece of heat shrink on each connection before you make it. After making the connection coat it with liquid tape and before it dries slide the heat shrink over it and shrink it. Now you have a completely waterproof connection. Do the same as the final step. Usually the shield is bare and wrapped around the wires. If this is the case and you don't have the material for lengthen it to wrap it, connect it as shown, then wrap the exposed wires with some tin foil. Coat it generously with liquid tape then slide your heat shrink over it while still wet and shrink it and you have another waterproof joint. This is a lot more involved but it has always worked for me.

Bill's way is pretty well the way I do it. I'd further add to do it someplace that a mess isn't a priblem. The liquid tape is a gooey mess and it always drips someplace.

You can buy dual wall heat shrink that will do the same as the liquid tape. It works pretty good at sealing wires.

But I usually end up using Bill's method as I never can find my dual wall stuff when I need it.

I bet it's in the same drawer the ~$100 worth of Molex Perma-seal terminals and splices I have but can't find. Every time I work on a trailer and have to heat shrink a wire I cuss one more time about misplacing them.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
