while the stator will charge the cranking batt while its running, you gotta get the motor going before it will charge. I would go with the 2 bank to avoid those "aw poo" moments early in the morning.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Most fishermen never run their big motor long enough to keep the starting battery fully charged. Thats why its a good idea to have an on-board charger big enough to include it. Better safe than have that "aw poo" moment.

Yep.....and keep them plugged up and you never have to worry about them going down and freezing in the winter either. I keep mine plugged in 24/7 when I am not fishing.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Another thing, these new electronics will pull on a battery more than they used to. I have a '96 model and my manual says to charge your battery every other time but that doesn't work out very good these days.
