Hey guys was wanting some opinons on a cheaper $300-400 fish/depth finder. I am not fishing tournys or anything just wanna be able to locate a brush piles and changes in depth (ledges). I wouldn't mind buying something used, just don't know where to begin. Thanks Clay

You can find "simple" depth finders for around 80-100 dollars ... in the 300-400 dollar range, you can get a pretty nice unit. Look up Lowrance & Humminbird & check out their lower priced units, and do a little comparison shopping. Color is useful, larger screen size is easier to see, & more pixels means a clearer picture. You "might" even find a unit that has GPS, & possibly even water temp reading capabilities, built in, for that kind of money.
Check out the Personal Classifieds Forum, on this site ... might be something there, too.

Look in the "sponsors" section here. BBG Marine has Humminbird 587 ci HD DI unit for sale for $432. I haven't compared that price anywhere else but I can tell you the HD units with down imaging are really nice. I'm running a 700 series with DI and GPS and love it.
