    Default Minnkota buyer help

I am wondering if in you alls opinon the 70 lb Maxxum is worth $280 more then the $550 Edge from minnkota? There both 70 lb and 24 volt, I just dont know if a hobby fisherman like myself needs to spend the extra. What do you guys think? Maybe buy a fish finder with the other money or...???

You will get longer battery life with the Maxxum.

Weekend warrior? Is the extra batt life worth $280? As opposed to adding a fish liar ( graph) ?

As FAADAN says, the Digital Maximizer will stretch your trolling time. If you fish a lot of TMO lakes, this could be important. By conserving your batteries you also get faster recharge times and the shallower discharge will extend the life of your batteries.

Before making a decision, I'd want to hear about both motors' durability and service records. Some models seem to suffer more problems than others. My experience with low and mid-priced TMs was not good. They were in and out of the repair shop more than I liked. When I stepped up to a Terrova, all of that ended. Today will be my 179th trip with a motor that has been to the shop 0 times. Talk to your repair man & see what he thinks of both models.

Im goin to fetch my boat from the marina at melvern. I doubt they work on em much but I can ask. Maybe Bads Pro or Cabelas TM department? Some of the watersheds I fish I only use my TM. But I dint usually fish longer then 4 or 5 hours at a time.

Assuming the Edge doesn't have strong negative ratings from owners, it will be the better choice. If you only fish a 5 hour day & are running a 24v system, you won't use 50% of your batteries' amps & a Maximizer will give you no advantage.

Went ahead and ordered a 70lb Edge. Couldn't see spending another $250 for the Maxxum for the weekend fisher I am. Thanks for the help fellas! Clay
