I found my MK Terrova wiring diagram. It shows two batteries connected in series and TWO wires going to motor.

You should be reading at least 25.3V on the wiring when the batteries are fully charged.
OK... when I previously hooked 1 positive wire directly to the TM cable (eliminating the plug in), I'm not sure which positive wire I hooked up. So tonight I'll verify the 24V positive wire in the bow and directly hook it up (and the negative) to the TM wires. Thanks for all yor help and suggestions. To be continued.....
I have a feeling you were on the 12v side and the trolling motor wasn't happy about it, I hope we have helped you solve this problem and let us know how it works out.
I hooked it up to 1 positive wire with 24V and it ran on #8 setting for 8 minutes in a 55 gallon drum until the 50 amp breaker tripped. I think we have solved my original problem but now I'm going to need a 60 amp breaker.. Any sponsors sell them??

Glad you got the problem worked out.
I've been away from the forum for a few days and wanted to clarify the below trouble shooting technique since someone may run into this again. The below is a way to trouble shoot the problem with minimal test gear.
The above was followed with the below post which made me realize I may not have been clear in my directions.
Gator is absolutley correct about the above that the motor will run on 12 volts. I had suspected that the motor was wired to 12Volts in my original post. When I looked at the pics, I noticed that fuse 1 was the 12 volt side. By pulling the cable marked as fuse 1, this would kill all 12V power to the front and leave only 24volts. If the motor was wired incorrectly to the 12volt side, when the wiring to fuse 1 was pulled the motor would then not run at all and you would know the motor was wired to the 12 volt side.
Thanks Gator for keeping me honest. I apologize for the lack of good communication on my part.
I would try it on the water before I replaced breaker. Running in a drum you are aerating the water and losing a lot of cooling around the motor which could cause it to heat up and trip breaker.
