    Default Bps charger question

Purchased a BPS Xps 4/4 8amp charger yesterday along with two stowaway 27- 105amp hour 182reserve capacity .. plug both batteries up last at around 6pm. Woke up at 430 to go fish and the charger was still going .. I got close to the batts and could hear bubbling .. took em off charger and went fishing... I used one battery and it lasted me from 630-noon trolling the whole time .. when I got back to the ramp it still has 1/3 charge.. I checked before I trolled across the lake (177acres) and it had 2/3 charge so I'm assuming it was a high 1/3 left. After all that my question is.. is that a normal charge time for a first charge or do I need to return the charger or batteries??? The batteries were cool to touch as well.thanks guys

Something is wrong. Were both batteries bubbling?

I had a Guest 4/4 8amp charger never got a full charge. But never boiled the batteries either. But it quit a few days ago, got me a Dual Pro should be good to go now.

Since both were boiling I would suspect the charger but you can't rule out a bad run of batteries at the factory. I would exchange the charger and have the batteries load tested.

Update. After charging the battery used yesterday that my gauge said had 1/3 capacity left (next light would be "recharge" the light turned amber which means conditioning. This was from Noon to 8PM. Checked at 430am and the green light is on which means finished charging and the "go fish symbol is on. So maybe everything is OK.

Sounds normal for batteries that have been in the store a long time. Some boiling is needed to mix the electrolyte to get them charged.

I have the same charger and if I remember right, the first time you put it on it runs a desulfate cycle. Then I think it does it about once every 30 days. I have 2 really old tm batteries and the charger has worked well for me.
