Default 24 Volt system battery Location

I found a 24 volt Ipilot for a reasonable price so I bought it to put on my Modified V Jon Boat. I have room up front for one battery so I was going to install one up front and one in the back? Being seperated like that, will that cause a voltage drop/imbalance? What size cable should I use to connect them?

Use the heaviest wire size possible. Any voltage drop reduces motor performance.

My boat is set up like that. One troller batt in the front the other in the back. No problems.
