A lot of times, if I'm looking for cover, I'll mark them with the cursor as I go. I'll come back to them later, by going to the waypoint created earlier. Hope this helps.

A person should learn something new every day!

After marking several spots I change the screen to Chart/DI. I simply zoom in on my waypoints(chart screen) and as I pass over them (DI screen)I will drop a bouy once I clear the brush/ tree or whatever. It took me awhile to get used to it but it seems to work okay.
I usually view SI/chart at the same time to give me reference of where my boat is in relation to contour lines or shorelines...
When I see interesting structure on SI.... I cursor over the structure on the SI image and drop a waypoint at the point where it "seems" the structure is intersecting the bottom....
Then, when I hit the "Mark" button... The blue dot waypoint immediately shows up on the split chart view...
I can then goto to the waypoint now or later depending on the circumstances...

I usually cursor to the spot, then use the GoTo function to go back and check out the spot on DI. If it looks like something I want to fish later I will make a waypoint, if not I leave it alone. Helps keep from cluttering up the screen.
Just how I do it.

I think I remember something in the latest software update that was supposed to make the little boat icon at the top of the SI view rotate to point toward a "Goto" function waypoint....
The boat icon icon does not actually move on the SI image..but just "points" toward the direction of the waypoint entered into the "goto" function...
I never use the "goto" function (as I constantly watch SI/ chart split view) and maneuver my chart's boat icon donut on the chart toward the waypoint I am seeking...
Yes.. The donut stills moves on the chart view as the boat moves on the water...
