Default lowrance hds/structure scan question....linking gen 2 and 1st gen together....

ok, this might be a dumb question, and i think i know the answer but just wanna check.........im looking at a hds5-gen2-with structure scan and a hds7-1st gen w/out the structure scan.....i have a power drive/I-pilot with universal sonar.....if i bought both the hds units listed my idea would be to place the hds5 on the front of the boat and connect it to the us2 transducer on the i-pilot, then place the hds7 on the back of the boat and run it on the structure scan that came with the hds 5.....link them together also...is this posible? thanks for any info, God bless all.

part 2 of question.....ok now if i decided to just get one of the units now (have to further explore my budget to see what direction im going)......could i mount that unit on the front and use the us2 transducer for sonar purposes the switch to the structure scan transducers on the back of the boat for si/down scan use.....would the trans ducer for my current back unit interupt a structure scan setup also placed on the backż......

By using Ethernet cables, you can view up to three units from one Structurescan module. The 2D transducer won't interfere with the Structurescan.

Hey James thats how I have my boat set up other than the universal trans in front, I have a bracket trans on my trolling motor. I also have a rear graph trans on the back with my structure scan trans with no problems. You will love it!!

Yes, I have the structure scan hooked up to the front graph. I'm fixing to run another ethernet wire to the back graph so I can have sctructure scan on both graphs.

    James
There is a menu in the unit which allows you to use which ever ducers you want to use. There are a bunch of options listed as to which type of ducer its looking at.
On my HDS 7 on the front of the boat I can view either the 2d ducer on the TM or look at the 2d ducer from the HDS 8 mounted on the transom.
DI/SI can be view on either unit via ethernet cable.

I could have shown you this yesterday I drove past your house about 3:15-3:30.

I was afraid some one was going to ask this....I'll have to go look. It may take a day or 2 before I can mess with it.

I believe this may answer your question. To get to Data Sources press Menu >Menu>Network> Data Sources.

    Data Sources
An advanced feature that allows you to use
data from a network data source or data from a
    sensor connected to your unit.
If, for example, you do not want to use your
unit’s internal GPS antenna, you could use an
external GPS antenna connected to an ethernet
    or NMEA 2000 network.
To access the Data Source Selection Screen,
highlight Data Sources on the Network menu
    and press enter.
    To select a data source:
    1. Select a data category and press the keypad to the right. A subcategory list
    will appear.
    2. Select a subcategory and press the keypad to the right. A list of sources will
    be displayed.
    3. Highlight a desired data source and press enter.
