    Default Navionics EAST Chip??

What is the difference between a 2011 and a 2007 Navionics Premium Chip for depthfinders?? Would a 2007 card work on a new HB 798 DI/SI?

There will be more lakes and river maps on the 2011 version of the card. There will be more of the lakes on the 2011 card in the High Definition format.

Yes the 798 units can use the Navionics Premium HotMaps cards.

I think the newer cards are also able to be updated with freshest data available from Navionics online for a small fee each year. My 2010 was made just before this became available and I would be out 100 bucks to upgrade card to latest maps. You may want to check with Navionics ok this, because the newer card may save you money in the long run...

The 2011 Navionics Gold and Platinum+ and HotMaps cards do indeed have the advantage that you can just plug them into your computer's card reader and then get the latest chart corrections / additions as a download from Navionics. And in the first year after you've purchased the card and then done your first Freshest Data update, those downloads are free. Only in later years would there be a fee of some sort depending on the card.

If you have any questions about Navionics cards (how to read them on computer, what chart plotters are compatible with a given card, etc.) drop a line to my company at [email protected] ... we can either help you directly or point you to the resource that could help you.
