PowerDrive v2 55 ipilot and Elite 5 dsi Help

Okay I hope I dont get anyone confused. Im considering buying a new minkota ipilot trolling motor but I been looking at the reviews an honestly they have got me a tad confused. I have a lowrance 5 dsi mounted on the bow. Currently I have the transducer ran down the shaft an zip tied to keep every neat an out of the way. My question is can I do this with the ipilot. Then my second question is what exactly is the universal sonar? Any help would deeply be appreciated.

I just ordered a Terrova 12volt I-Pilot. From what I have read on here, DI won't work with the U2 hookup. I just have a HB525 on the front of mine.
By the way, Sportsman Guide gives a 10% discount if you join their Buyers Club($25). That is a $120 discount on my motor. Only problem is they are backordered until April 11th. They also let you pay in 4 installments with no interest charges. Kind of dulls the sticker shock of paying that much for a TM.
I am not sure of this, but I think the electic steer motors can turn 360 degrees. If you have a cable strapped to the side of the shaft it could get twised and break or foul up the motor steering.

i-Pilot is built into the unit and there is no cable to run down the shaft. US-2 is a built in transducer that will work with a lot of depth finders but it will not work with dsi or si units.

Ok thanks for the info..so next anyone have any ideals how a man can rig it up to work.I literally just got the elite 5 just a few months ago an I sure like having it at the bow..

Ok thanks.I know this is bad to admit but I just realize I been looking at to different TM's on the cabelas website..Can someone recommend or give me more information on which one to pick.. The Terrova or the powerdrive? Thanks Happy Easter everyone
