You need the cruise control for speed, and the auto pilot for direction. They work independently of each other. If it's breezy, I find the compass A/P better than the GPS A/P for holding a steady course.

Have a question. Do I need to use the cruise control or advanced auto pilot to stay at a constant speed when spider rigging and which one will keep boat on a straight line or path that way you don't have to worry about your position and can concentrate on watching your poles and trying to catch fish. Thanks for any help or advice. I'm just trying to learn on how to use it correctly.![]()

When you locate a productive area, you'll want to try the Track Record/Playback in place of AP. If you're hovering baits over a BP or some other limited piece of structure, use SpotLock.
