On the water with it. I have a Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 trolling motor and when I deploy it and engage the motor it rises back up out of the water. It's not locking down.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I am sure that the locking mechanism isn't locking it down but I'm not sure how to adjust that.

try pushing down on the release lever with the TM in the water. that should let the motor drop and lock into place.

That's good info, but if it is dropping down into place, make sure the locking lever is raising back up to the lock position.

Just a thought. I have the same motor and have had a couple of them. I just installed the co-pilot on mine. I check the specs for the bolts and Lowe's didn't have the same exact bolts (1.75") - I used the 2.00".
Everything looked like it cleared with no issues... and I didn't try to lock the motor down... SAME issue as you. Turns out that the unit would not seat properly as it was getting hung up and wouldn't allow the locking mechanism to lock into place. Not sure if it is your situation, but thought I'd toss it out there. Just had this experience on Wednesday. Shortened the screw and all is well. Just check the bolts that come thru the outer cover and if they extend much more than .125 or .250, it may be your issue.

Mine did the same thing and I found if I rotate the motor by hand it dropped down and locked. Sometimes the depth collar isn't in the right place.

Maybe they installed it too far back on the boat. Check and see if the shaft is hitting the boat when deployed.

Thank you for all of the replies guys.

They did install it too far back, but not really too far back on the boat, too far back on the Poly Plastic plate that the Mounting bracket sits on. So when deployed the Trolling Motor Collar was hitting the Piece of Plastic underneath. I took it off and used a Saws-All and sawed about 1/4" off the plastic piece, put everything back together and it works like a charm now.

    Thanks again
