    Default gas guage problem

have a bass tracker 2008, replace sensor in tank anmd still the needle will go all the way to full . took sensor back out and move float up and down, but still shows full. Would it be gas needle or something to do with ground?

If I remember correctly, the gas gauge is nothing but an Ohm meter and as the resistance goes up or down (as the float moves up or down), it measures the change in resistance. My first guess would be a loose or bad ground wire.

Yes, that plate that holds the float must be grounded.

You'll have three wires at the gauge, plus possibly a fourth for the gauge light. You should have one lead labelled "I" that will be at 12V when the key is on. You'll have a lead labelled "S", which comes from the sender, and a ground lead labelled "G". At the sender, you'll have two wires, which go directly to the "S" and "G" terminals on the gauge.

With the key on, you should measure 12V between I and G. (some vehicles regulate it down, so don't sweat it if you see a lower voltage) The voltage between S and G will vary as the tank sender moves up and down. Grounding the "S" lead will peg the gauge if it works.
