I've only used it a couple of times but have had a problem lowering it. Then all of a sudden I do something I'm not aware of and it goes down very easy. What's the secret?

You have to push in pretty hard then down. After you use it some the pushing in gets easier.

I'm getting used to mine right now as well. The owner's manual says to coat the shaft with Armor All and I have to admit that it does help with deploying the motor. Just a tip I thought I would pass along to another Terrova user.
Yesterday mine didn't want to lock down into the storage position completely, kind of rubbing/stuck/hard to move when it should have been right at the point of rotating the jaws to lock down. This morning I didn't think I was gonna get it deployed. Had to lay down, hold the lever down, and give it a little bump with my foot. I guess you would call that a kick. Just enough to get it to move, and then it was good, til I had to stow it again. Do I remember someone else having trouble and having to take the side panels off for something?
