    Default Transducer issue

One of the last times out, I got the transducer cable caught while bringing my trolling motor onboard. I got into one of the wires, so I did what I could to keep the moisture out. It's started acting up and now I'm wondering what to do.

It's the HB 570DI, which I do enjoy. I've since purchased a HB 798 for the console. Now, since it's seems that I may have to purchase a new transducer, I wonder if I should just get another TD for the 798 and just move it back and forth. I didn't think a $300 unit would have a $150 TD, but I guess it does. Best I can tell is that I'd be spending about $30 more of the 798 TD.

    Thoughts?

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

And I think you will get tired of moving it all the time.

Cut the bad part out and splice it back together.

HB just came out with a new transducer for those units with Down Imaging to put on the trolling motor. It is only 99.00 but you can find it cheaper on the internet. I think I saw it for 75.00. XTM 9 DI 25 T

I did the same thing so I am going to order one. I didn't even cut the wires, just the shielding and plastic. I covered with alluminum foil and electrical tape and still having problems.

just out of curiosity, how many wires are in the xducer wire, does it vary for a 2d, DI or SI ??

jimp, I honestly don't know how many wires are in there...I just closed my eyes and prayed! I do like the DI, and even though it's in black and white, I still think it's just as good as the DI on my SI unit.

I'm nervous about splicing them, because I've heard people say they've had issues there, too. I went back out yesterday and darn if I didn't scrape some cover off in another place, too. I love the MK PDV2, but I just can't seem to keep the wire from getting in a bad place when I'm stowing the motor.

There ya go, Humminbird....give us a wireless TD!!!

Bigtex, thanks, that would probably save me enough money to just go that route.
