    Default Duel bank DC-Alternator Charger

Thinking about getting one and was wanting to see if any of you guys use them or have heard anything about them. I've read up on Minn Kota's model and it sure seems sweet.

How well it works is going to depend on what size alternator your motor has.

Thats what I've read and I need to find out how much voltage my alternator is putting out. Its a 200 hp. Mercury EFI so I'am thinking it might be enough.

Many people have trouble keeping their cranking battery charged, much less two extra batteries. It takes hours of running near WOT to recharge large batteries. Most crappie fishermen don't run close to enough to gain much charge.

I've got the 30/3 this winter to put on my boat later this month. I have a 90 honda. Hope to get a decent charge on my trolling batteries and my extra battery for my front locator. I'll post how it works for me as soon as i use it.

From what I find you do have a 50 amp belt driven alternator. According to the manual you get 16 amps at the battery at idle and 31 amps at 1000 RPM and it goes up from there to a max of 42 amps at the battery at WOT. So looking at those figures that MK unit should work quite well for you.

Thanks Bill and from what I've read I needed to have at least 25 amps from my alternator for the charger to work right on a 24 volt system.
