    Default GPS Anntenna wires

I got a stupid question, my 997 unit works fine but I noticed that the gps anntenna has a red and black power wire, should this be connected to power?????

I think you are referring to the "pigtail" coming out of the connector...

I also think this is for data out to some other external possibilities...

This "pigtail" should have a black plastic tip cover to protect the exposed wires inside...

Make sure the two bare wire ends are not touching each other, put the black plastic tip on the end of the "pigtail" and secure the "pigtail" alongside the antenna cable..

You will most likely never need to use the "pigtail"..

Thats what I thought but just wanted to make sure. I seen a picture of how to hook up an interlink and it showed the gps anntenna with a + and - sign.

    Thanks

Make sure that the Red wire does not connect to the Black or White wires or to the boat anywhere. Doing so may damage the internal circuitry that supplies power to the accessories which would make the GPS not work at all.
