    Default On plain depth finder.

I was wanting to know some options on what to do to get the best reading on plain. I was thinking about some kind of in dash just for the readings. I have my regular depth finder set up for the best readings for normal use but loose the bottom fast at speed. Any input would be good. I have a glass ranger that I am working with.

Glue the transducer in the hull. Mine works from sitting still to 55mph, and will pick up a crappie jig 24ft down.

I got mine on the transom and it work's fine, just had to adjust it a couple time's.All boat's hull's are designed differently and some put out more turbulence than other's.

Your location has a problem then. Maybe something in front of it creating turbulence.

For glass boats glueing it in the bottom is best. Use a slow curing two part epoxy. Scuff up the area you want to place it and clean with acetone. Find a flat spot as close to the very bottom of the hull you can find. Build a dam around the area with plumbers putty and pour the epoxy in and do your best to keep bubbles out of it. Then slowly insert the transducer into the epoxy starting at one edge and kinda rolling it in until it is flat and push it down in there a little. Let is cure and you are good to go. You should be able to keep bottom readings up to 45mph and maybe faster.

if you have dual set it to the 83 on HB not a fishin boat on water that can outrun sound. I run mine on 200/83 when fishing but as I move from area to area I switch it to 83 to only get that straight down reading. It clears my screen too.

I'm not 100% sure... But I think the HB depth is derived from the 200khz beam (and the 200kHz beam still fires to get the depth reading... Even when the unit is set to 83kHz only)
