Default Lowrance LGC-4000 & NMEA 2000 Network Question

I believe I have successfully installed both but what changes do I need to make to my HDS 10 and 8 to make sure they are using the external antenna? The instructions are lacking on how to configure your HDS units once both are installed!

    Thanks!

It should automatically detect the lcg4000 and use it. To veriify you can go to your network menu, select device list and enter. You should view the lcg4000 here. LCG want show up in sim mode, so you gotta be up and running real time.

    Default Lgc 4000

You also want to change to realtime updates to get the 5x per second refresh rate for precise boat control when moving @ slow speeds
The best way to get around these slow refresh rates is by going into the “Waypoints, Routes, and Trails menu.
    1) Press “Page”
    2) Press the right arrow on the cursor pad to scroll over to “Waypoints, Routes and Trails”
    3) Use the arrows to select “trails” and hit the “menu” button.
    4) Use the cursor pad to highlight settings, then press the enter button
    5) Change the “logging type” to “Time”
    6) Finally, set the time to “1 sec”. Press close and exit out.

Looks like it's installed under the device list. @Jaxsprat I've got to make changes through the menu to take advantage of the 5x per second refresh rate? I assumed 5x per second was the default setting?

I had not made that change, thanks for the reminder Jaxsprat. Just ran the update on the 7's too.

5x refresh is automatic once the LCG is detected (HDS only). No settings required. Jax, that is the trail dropping update time period variable.

Took the boat out for a nice cruise, 60mph smooth as silk on the gps with the lgc4000. Was sitting on brush using GPS, and noticed a huge difference too. This was my first outing since moving my lss-1 ducer to the trolling motor and I have to be honest, I wish I had made this decision on day 1. I like it so much more up front.
