Default Humminbird 587 di Vs 597 di RMS PTP differences

Cabelas and gander mountain have a new model Humminbird 587ci HD DI combo which has a 1/2 inch smaller screen than the 597 and not as good resolution. My question is there going to be a noticeable difference between the 587 having 300RMS 2400 watts PTP versus the 597's 500RMS 4000watts PTP?

it worth an extra couple hundred bucks?

Side note most of my fishing is in clear to slightly stained water 35 feet deep or shallower with occassional lake Michigan salmon forays out to 100 ft or so.

It is my understanding that all of the 500 series DI units have the same sonar specs (including transmit power). I just confirmed this with someone so you should not see a difference in the performance of the 587ci HD DI versus the 597ci HD DI units that is not display related.

Many thanks Greg, I really appreciate you checking into this. Humminbird support really sets the bar when it comes to support and that makes my choice of fishfinder brands a no-brainer.

Will these 500 units work okay with the Univeral 2 sonar built in transducer on a MinnKota Terrova trolling moter?

Not the DI models blairarnold. The DI model units need a specialized transducer.

The other single and Dual Beam models will work with the US2 sonar though.

Rats. I also am looking at the Humminbird 587 ci DI, and I have a Terrova with a Universal 2 sonar. I was hoping to keep things as simple as possible. If I have to use a separate transducer which I think comes with the Cabela's sale model, what else do I need in wiring or circuits to hook it up to the depth finder?

The unit will come with the correct 2d/DI xducer that will hook to the unit...

You just will not be able to use the US2 for any part of the 587...

Thanks. By the way does the 587 read water temps, too? I don't see any reference about that in the ad or on the screens I've seen?

I'm pretty sure the 587ci HD DI Combo uses the same XNT-9-DI-T xducer as the other 500 series DI units...
    It has built in temp...
    XNT 9 DI T : : Humminbird

I also think it is a transom mount... So if you are going to mount the transducer on the trolling motor.. You will need the HB Adapter kit...AD XTM 9 :: Humminbird

Or 1 of the adapter kits from Transducer Shield and Saver...

Thanks again, but I don't see the 587 ci DI listed on the group with the transducer or with the transducer mounting hardware. Are you sure this is right?
