    Default depth finder question


    i have two depth on my boat,one on rear and one up front. the one up front is a eagle 480 with transducer mounted onto trolling moter. with the trolling running very little shows up on screen and with it off fish show up and then i turn it back on and no fish again. is this normal or have i got something set wrong.

    It's not uncommon. Running the electronics off the TM battery or having the transducer cable or FF power wires running close to the TM power wires can cause this. Google "Trolling Motor Interference" and you should get lots of hits.

    I still have my 480 mounted the same as yours...(even now after installing my HB 1197c SI Combo)

    Your issue could be interference, xducer problem, or just too low a sensitivity setting....

    I never run any DF in "auto"...

    Most 2d sonar tutorials will advise to turn up the sensitivity until the screen shows a second bottom echo at twice the actual depth...then turn the sensitivty down a notch or 2....
