Default 597ci HD Di Combo and new Waypoint Management

I'm just learning to us my new 597 ci HD DI. I uploaded the new software version but had trouble saving waypoints. The instruction manual told me how but my menu screens weren't the same. I found out the new upgrade included a new feature called Waypoint Management. I did figure out how to export the waypoints. Then after some research saw the pdf for WM on the humminbird site http://store.humminbird.com/media/document/WMG.pdf .

During this time I had trouble with the unit seeing my sd card, strange because it was the same one I used to update the software. I finally used a different card and still could not export the waypoints. I found a tip on a forum and found that if I uploaded a waypoint (from Humminbird PC via my SD card)to the unit; it might accept it and then I would be able to export waypoints from the unit to the SD card. I tried it and it worked. Something about making the folder needed I think (Matrix). Anyway, I'm enjoying my new unit and will get all the kinks worked out soon. Thanks to kosmo and his thread dating back to May. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/fishi...7ci-hd-di.html

Any other tips will be appreciated.

So you first had to create a waypoint on a pc, save that to SD card, then upload that waypoint to 597 before the unit would load saved waypoints back to the card? Is there anything else I might be needing to know? What app were you using to create the waypoint on your PC?

    Thanks

Thanks, Rickie......been trying to register for a week now with no luck. Finally called and they looked up my SN. Found it in main database, but it wasn't in the online DB, so I'm waiting another day or two to see if they have it updated....will download Humminbird PC then and try some of this stuff!!

Thanks for the help guys... I got a new HB 597ci hd di too. I downloaded humminbird pc after registering my unit, but I'm havin trouble trying to figure out how to convert a USR file of brush pile waypoints made by the corp on my home lake. I think I have to covert the USR file to a GPX file to make it usable on my humminbird pc and my 597??? Looks like we're all learning this together. Here's a link to the corp brush pile waypoints. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

A lot of guys are using this free file converter...
GPSBabel: convert, upload, download data from GPS and Map programs

Your waypoints will need to be in .hwr format for HB PC to be able to put them on the SD card for the unit to read them...

    Kevin,
Did you ever get that *.usr file converted and uploaded to your Humminbird?
HumminbirdPC will convert many of the *.usr files.
