    Default ? for Jason Gilstrap

With the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI one of the videos on Lowrance's site shows them scrolling back to mark a brushpile as a waypoint. This is really a great feature but how long do you have to do this? Another words say I see a brush pile and a hour later (or whatever) I remember I didn't mark it. How long do I have to scroll back and mark it? Or when is it gone?

I believe the HDS has about 20-30 seconds recorded look back time, after that time it falls back in the water. ha . Me and billbob tried it out. Great feature. We didn't do a precise scroll back time. Good question Bill....It ain't in the book.

When I utilized this feature on my 8... menu menu, scroll down to stop sonar exit scroll back to what you want to mark...mark...then menu menu scroll down to start sonar then exit. Its a process for sure and it takes a little getting use to. Don't have a lot of time to waste. Maybe Jason has a shorter way of doing it...

Just move the cursor over and start backtracking. You don't have to stop the sonar. For instance, if you have 2d screen highlighted, just move the cursor to the left and keep going left. This will stop the active scroll and let you scroll history.

Glad to hear there is a shorter way...I assume that if your ss box is highlighted you can do the same thing...will try it next time...

Yes, anything highlighted is the control cursor page. The cursor will also move on all pages displayed on the screen. Put 2d and di on display and play with it. neat feature.

With si, just scroll down instead of to the left.

GUYS .... let's not get the Elite 5DSI & the HD's capabilities confused. Bill's question is whether or not the E5DSI unit can backtrack to a point on the screen history, that's more than a minute or two old. Simulator/emulator programs won't answer that question, since they're preprogrammed "scripts". What Bill needs to know (& us other E5DSI owners, also) can only be answered by live testing this unit on the water. (or Jason's expertise/knowledge)

They don't have that feature. That is one of the things I really liked about the LCX-27 I used to have.
