I have the same question but for 998 and 1198 HB's. I been looking at different onse but I would like to see one in person if I can find one around here. But if others have used them I think we all would appreciate some input. Thanks

Do I need the huge 2.5 inch ram ball mount or can I use the smaller mounts on an HDS 7. I have limited space on my console where I'm putting the unit and need a mount that gets up and out away from the steering wheel, so the mount will need to be secure at a more horizontal position. If ya'll have any suggestions on a mount I'd appreciate it.

The bigger ball mounts have better clamping force when you're out running and gunning.
...don't want to thread jack but I have the smaller ram-137u used fs.
I have 2 HDS 7's on 1.5" ram mounts and neither one has moved and inch in rough water.
I run my 7" on a 1.5", and like said before, it's plenty. The 10 needs the 2.5"
BRM
We only sell the Best. Ranger, Xpress, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu.
So would the 1.5 work for the HB 998 or should I get 2 2.5 one for 998 and one for 1198.
I have the 997 and running in rough waters the FF would slump down with the 1.5" ball. With the 2.5" ball, I have yet to see it shift.
Get the big one. One time and you're done, no going back for something that will work better than what you bought trying to get by. I've got the 998 on the 2.5
I run both the 7 & 8 on the 2.5...and I like them
Where did you guys find them, trying to make sure I get the right one. Thanks
