    How many get 400 ft side to side out of the shallow water setting?

    The beam will hit bottom long before it gets 400ft in shallow water.

    what i am asking is how many have the settings on their unit set on "shallow water" that enables them to go 400 ft if they want to. those that fish water 40 ft and less lets say for example. mine gives me 400 ft set on shallow water as an option, but lowrance says anything under 100ft keep on shallow water settings.

    I keep mine set on shallow water but I rarely try look much past 80'

    i use my unit out to 360ft. i do this fairly often .i see alot with that one pass set that far out.i no this is not what you want to here but i couldnt resist.......

    Am runnin hds 10 and hds 8-e net up here in Mo. Set for shallow water, I can shoot 200' left and 200' right. I don't like the loss of detail, even on a 10. Usually prefer around 80' like others. Does this answer your question.

    There was a change in that option in at least a couple of updates at 4.0 or later.
