Looks like you can do that. There's a way to select "new waypoint", and when you do, it shows up with all zeros. I guess you just backspace the zeros and add your numbers.

I have some latitude and longitude coordinates I wanted to put into my 998 I was wondering, is the only way to put the waypiont in is to use the cursor; or can I type them into the Humminbird program that you download on your computer and then download them to a SD card then upload them? Any info would be helpful.

I'm new to HB gps unit also. I believe you can use Humminbird PC (which was shipped with my unit). Just enter and edit new waypoints and edit lat and long. Then save to a sd card and upload to unit.
I think anyone who has ever entered wp coordinates into the HB unit itself will say the same thing...
It can be done right into the unit ... But it is so much easier to use the HB PC program....

Thanks guys got it just had to fumble through and change the minute second thing to decimal whatever that means but it works the dots are where there suppose to be.
Sorry Powertroll, was busy all last week so did not get on Crappie.com until today and saw your post. If you have many waypoints to enter it may be possible to enter them en masse by copying and pasting them into another program or perhaps downloading them. If you have a bunch of waypoints that are on the Internet this may be possible. I was able to help someone move a bunch of waypoints from the Alabama Power web site into their units late last week by doing this.
