I have a 522C and mine has done that when the batt gets a little low. As mentioned, check all the connections and put an extra charge on the batt. If all else fails you might wanna try a reset. I had a link to the page that described how it's done but it has been removed. Maybe someone will chime in with the procedures or you could call Lowrance.
Have both a 520c and 522c linked together and had the same problem when my battery got weak and low on charge. Got a new battery and problem went away..CHARGE OR GET NEW BATTERY and I believe your problem will be solved....Ranger

i say typical lowrance timed malfunction, i got several laying around that have went bad, if it is cutting off on its own it has nothing to do with the transducer, i had one that wouldn't cut off so i hooked a seperate switch to the positive wire, i have one that the light comes on and off constantly and beeps, i have another that is similiar to yours in that it comes on then cuts itself off after a bit, just had to keep turning it on throughout the day, i got another one where for some reason the screen screwed up, the first 2'' is fine but the last 3'' shows what is going on but in reverse. i still have a lowrance x125 in the bow but have a bird on the console, whenever humminbird makes a depth bar in 1' increments i'll have one on the bow too.
It sounds like something with the electrical connection like these guys have stated or an internal unit issue. Test the battery first make sure its good, charge it up, and or replace it and see if it does it again. If so give Lowrance a call and they can most likely trouble shoot it for you first then you may have to send it to them for repair if it is internal.
I just switched from Lowrance to Humminbird after many years with Lowrance, and I always had good warranty and or repair service by them. Good luck to you.
I was having this problem last year and finally isolated it to corrosion in the fuse holder, last place I looked, of course!

thanks for all the input. i have checked all these things and cant find anything wrong i think its internal.i also have a lms 480 so i gues i will move that to the bow and get something cheeper for the console.anyone know of a good unit for under 300 bucks the lowrance were top of the line when they were purchased but everone has come out with newer technolgy since then. i just dont have the money for a hd unit.just need something simple for the console. also do all the gps units still have to have a seperate pickup or is it all built into the units now
I would do a soft reset on the unit first. Sorry I cant think of the soft how to..IM thinking its press page and power??Power off, Hold both buttons until the usa map appears. The only thing you will loose is trails (no waypoints) and will be reset to factory settings
If this does not do it try the hard, turn unit off and press both zoom buttons and the power at the same time (keep holding in) until the usa map appears. This will take about 1.5 minutes, or it seems that long.. You will loose all settings and waypoints with the hard reset, so do a back up first..
Thanks I really don't have any settings I need to save so I will try both.lets hope it works.i tried going on the low race website and couldn't find anything to help.thats why I asked on here.
